Weiss Family Memorial Challenge

In honor of Drs. Leslie and Mitchell Weiss, who served as physicians at Morton Plant Hospital for more than a decade, and their two children, Hannah and Ari.

Our Morton Plant Hospital community was greatly impacted by the heartbreaking loss of Drs. Leslie and Mitchell Weiss, and their two children, Hannah and Ari, who passed away from a single-engine plane crash while visiting Costa Rica on New Year’s Eve.

Leslie and Mitchell served as physicians at Morton Plant Hospital for more than a decade and were integral, beloved members of their respective teams — Leslie in neonatal pediatrics and Mitchell in interventional radiology.

To honor their memory, Leslie and Mitchell’s family have challenged the Morton Plant Hospital community with a $125,000 matching gift to name the hospital’s Mother & Baby Unit, “In honor of Drs. Leslie and Mitchell Weiss and their children Hannah and Ari” and naming the Interventional Radiology Department, “Dr. Mitchell M. Weiss Interventional Radiology Department.”

Please consider supporting this family challenge with a gift to not only honor the memory of the Weiss family, but also to help fund an advanced birthing simulator at Morton Plant Hospital to help our nurses practice responding to childbirth complications and life-threatening emergencies. In keeping with the hospital’s Mother & Baby Unit theme of, “This is where your story begins,” your support will also provide baby books to families who just had a baby born at the hospital.
